Export Compliance Center
The product is rarely what stops a wooden urn shipment at the border — the pallet underneath it is. This center explains what US APHIS, Canada CFIA and the EU actually require of wood packaging, what documents we issue from China, and which failures we see most often.

Wooden pet urns enter the US as general cargo, but every wood pallet, crate and dunnage piece must meet ISPM 15: heat treated to 56°C core for 30 minu…

Every destination page describes what the buyer must satisfy. This is the half of the chain we control before the container leaves Cao County.
- 1
Export registration
Chinese customs requires bamboo, wood and grass product manufacturers to hold export registration before shipping. Registration covers the production site, kiln and packing area.
- 2
Kiln drying and heat treatment
Wood is dried to 8%–12% moisture content, then heat treated to a logged core temperature — 56°C for 30 minutes at minimum, higher where the buyer specifies.
- 3
Phytosanitary certificate
Issued by China Customs for the goods. It records the product, quantity, treatment and destination, and travels with the original documents.
- 4
IPPC pallets and loading check
Export pallets carry the IPPC mark. Marks and debarked dunnage are photographed during loading so the buyer has evidence before arrival.
Compliance questions buyers ask first
What documents ship with a wooden pet urn order?
Phytosanitary certificate, heat-treatment report, packing list and commercial invoice, plus IPPC-marked pallets. FSC chain-of-custody documents are added when the order specifies certified material.
Which countries do you already ship these documents to?
The document set is built for US, Canadian and EU import, because those are the three markets where wood packaging rules are most strictly enforced. Other destinations are handled case by case with the buyer's broker.
Can ceramic or metal urns avoid the wood packaging rules?
The product itself is not plant material, but if it travels on a wood pallet or in a wood crate, that packaging still needs ISPM 15 treatment and marking. Using plywood or plastic pallets removes the packaging requirement.
Who is responsible if the shipment is held at the border?
Formally the importer of record, which is why the packaging evidence is prepared at our end and shared before loading. We supply the treatment logs and loading photos needed to respond to an inspection.
Do you provide HS codes?
We provide the product description and material composition used for classification, and we confirm the code with the buyer's broker before production. Classification and duty are the importer's declaration, not something we can assert on their behalf.
These pages summarize public regulatory requirements for reference. They are not legal advice. Confirm the current rules with your customs broker and the destination plant health authority before each shipment.
