Paulownia Wood Pet Cremation Caskets & Urns
Paulownia is used where low weight and clean combustion matter — most importantly in cremation caskets that must burn completely and leave minimal residue.

Paulownia is one of the lightest commercially available hardwoods. Its low density allows a casket to burn cleanly and completely during cremation while remaining rigid enough to be carried and handled with dignity during the service. It is also naturally moisture resistant and fully biodegradable.
We machine paulownia caskets in small, medium and large sizes covering cats through large-breed dogs. Each casket has a fitted removable lid and recessed side handles, and all visible surfaces are sanded smooth. Because the material is so light, a full-size casket remains easy for clinic staff to move.
Paulownia is typically supplied unfinished and biodegradable. Buyers who want a finished presentation can order the matching kiln-dried pine urn afterwards, allowing one funeral home to offer the complete service — casket for the cremation, urn for the ashes — from a single supplier.

Paulownia Wood Wholesale Questions
Why is paulownia preferred over pine for cremation caskets?
Paulownia has lower density and burns more cleanly and completely, leaving less residue than pine. It is also lighter to handle, which matters at larger sizes, despite having adequate structural strength for the service.
Are paulownia caskets biodegradable?
Yes. Paulownia caskets are supplied unfinished with no metal hardware, plastic lining or synthetic coating, so the whole unit is biodegradable.
Can caskets be ordered together with urns?
Yes. Many pet crematoriums order the paulownia casket for the cremation service and a matching pine urn for the ashes from us, which simplifies sourcing and keeps finishes consistent.
Do paulownia products need phytosanitary certification?
Yes, as a solid wood product. Every shipment includes a phytosanitary certificate, a heat treatment report and IPPC-marked packaging.
